Firm History

Founded in 1977, CFO now consists of more than 30 attorneys and a substantial support staff, including paralegals and registered nurses. CFO is licensed as a professional corporation.

Members of the firm lecture extensively and have served as National Lecturers for the Practicing Law Institute in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and San Diego, as well as locally for the Nassau County Academy of Law, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Association of Counties, the New York State Association of Towns and other similar organizations.

Our firm's partners and associates are frequently invited by insurance carriers to participate in training programs for their in-house legal and claim departments. In addition, our attorneys regularly lecture before public and private sector associations. Several attorneys currently lecture for the CPCU (Chartered Casualty and property Underwriter) program and participate as instructors at the National Institutes of Trial Advocacy Programs at Hofstra University.

The firm handles a variety of cases for a wide range of insurance products and for a variety of clients, both as insurance defense counsel and privately retained counsel. The cases range from high exposure automotive and premises liability cases, including New York State Labor law Sections 240 and 241, school liability cases involving students, visitors and construction site accidents, products liability, insurance coverage and commercial disputes.
